To be honest I don't quite understand the nudist types. Being naked for the sake of being naked seems to be rather stupid, as stupid as wearing clothes on the beach. Nevertheless, when I am on the beach my butt needs to be naked, period! The thought of going to the beach and having to wear damp pieces of fabric kills all the excitement.
I have started to look for my next vacation and it turned out that it is very difficult to find a decent nude beach destination. Lots of research through the Internet, TripAdvisor, LonlyPlanet, etc and still nothing that I could settle on. I decided to record whatever I could find on this page so, that I don't forget myself what I have already found. Also, I found this interesting resource covering the secluded nude beaches in the US:
http://find.mapmuse.com/map/nude-beaches
So, here are my requirements for a good nude place:
* I need some significant amount of water, backyard lawns don't cut as well as small lake beaches, there are a number of nudist resorts but vert few of them have a real private beach attached to them
* North/Central America/Caribbean, flying for days and changing time zones does not seem like a vacation to me. I needed spots that I can reach in a day from the North America Pacific coast.
So, here are the options in no particular order:
1. Makena Little Beach @ Maui, Hawaii , certainly a splendid and safe place, the problem is that my vacation time is spring break time, which is high/busy season, the hotels and tickets are expensive.
2. Southern California has Blacks and San Onofre. Again very nice places, at some point I need to publish a good blog about these with pictures etc. The problem is that these are good only July-September.
3. North California has Bonny Doon (more about North Ca beaches here http://www.santacruz.com/attractions/nude-beaches). Again, even in August these can be very chilly.
4. Wreck Beach - Vancouver, B.C., need to visit summer time, not sure it ever gets warm enough.
5. Capella Pedregal @ Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. According to some stupid links, Capella Pedgregal is a luxurious hotel designed so, that it has big semi-private balconies and plunge pools for each of its units and you don't need to bother to wear anything. Bullshit! Marketing! Capella Pedregal is a very expensive time share that does have a piece of the beach attached to it that is secluded from the rest of Cabo San Lucas by the ciffs; however, it is not advised to sweem on that beach becasue of a strong current. Also, 99.9% of the rich folks that have access to the beach are definitely not nudists. The bottom line is that Cabo San Lucas unfortunately does not have any nude beaches. That being said one can probably find a spot somewhere along the huge coast line. I did fly to Cabo and unfortunately could not find a place to get my butt naked. Cabo has a club Desire, swinger/naturist hotel but it DOES NOT have a nude beach, the beach attached to it is public and it is not advised to show up naked on it as well.
6. Hedonism II, Breezes @ Jamaica, long flight, seems like accomodations are not that fantastic.
7. Caliente Caribe Resort & Spa, long flight, not so fabulous according to reviews.
8. Desire Resorts in Cancun (their Cabos location does not have a private beach), long flights, very pricy.
9. St Martin, Club Orient, long flight, rustic, no nightlife
Anybody have ideas? Might be Cabos has some special spots?
