Cabo San Lucas

After going throgh the laundry list of nude beaches, I finally settled on Cabo San Lucas. This post is supposed to be accompanied by a photo gallery but I have not gone through the pictures yet (surprise, surprise, when will I stop posting placeholders?) The above picture is the only one I could not help but to upload. Here we have another diary style post.

My well-travelled readers, especially those living in California, would probably ask why Cabo? Indeed, Cabo hardly can be called exotic, it feels like the 51st state and out of all the possible Mexican destinations can be probably considered the least Mexican. The ocean looks and feels like the ocean in Southern California, one could probably save a buck or two by flying to LA instead.

There ware several reasons. For one, the US southern California is not all that warm around the end of March beginning of April while the immense coast line of Baja Sur is already basking in the gentle sun.

Cabo is considered to be the safest place in Mexico, mostly because it’s located on the peninsular connected to the mainland only though one single road. Growing pot here is naturally difficult since Baja is one huge desert and Baja is not on the way of the major drug trafficking routes. Almost the entire Mexican population work in the tourist industry while gringos permanently living there are rather wealthy retirees. The safety point is important for me because as you guys might remember, I’m predisposed to nude sunbathing which is awfully awkward in the foreign countries were you don’t feel safe even fully clothed. By the way, I had a great session with a very cute Mexican stripper who told me that she moved to Cabo from Acapulco because… they shoot people over there.

What I have learned in my nude beach research is that all the destinations that are ok with nudity are either:

1)   very far away and you need 3 planes, 2 trains, and a bicycle to get there.  When you finally make it to the place, you will find out that to get to a  decent bathroom now, you need to take a bike, 2 trains, and possible an air  plane

2)   darn expensive, especially the establishments that command their own private beach.

Cabo has a very special club called Desire that is only 20-3o minutes away from downtown Cabo, the place is half swingers/half naturalists. Being all progressive liberal, I was still not sure if I wanted to spend my entire vacation in such a place. I was hoping to find some secluded beach not far from the hotel where my ass does not offend somebody’s feelings. If worse comes to worse, I could pay for a day pass @ Desire and take advantage of their nice facilities (more about that later).

Ok… getting a bit sleepy, I will continue sometime when I have time J
